Derailed

Yes, that is what has happened to me. I got derailed from my usual course of action.

I'm sorry for being gone so long - my dear mother-in-law passed away in Florida, so I've been distracted by that. She died with her husband and six children with her, so I know she was at peace to have them all there. She will be missed by many.

In addition, a nasty virus attacked me and I was out of commission for a week. And by that, I mean i was so sick that I cancelled a facial apt, a day of work in the pharmacy and most serious of all, I did very little knitting (gasp!). But now I am back and ready to blather on about life.

Today is another perfect summer day. I will be headed to the beach shortly - am waiting to take some blueberry bread from the oven. These are the little loaves that I plan to give away and to freeze. Two full sized loaves are in the oven - both kids will be here this weekend, so I think they will be eaten up quickly.

I got my Bistro Lace Shawl completed. I love it and am thinking that I might wear it to the funeral service for my mother-in-law. She loved to see my knitting, so I think it is appropriate to wear a hand knit shawl.

We have been having a lot of fun on the beach, here is my grandson playing with a toy that makes volcanoes in the sand.

And here is TanMan doing what he loves most.

And one last finished project.  This project has been done for months, but I finally got it blocked.  I think this might be my favorite knititng project ever.  It took a long time to knit, but it is such a work of art.  Maybe I should get another kit at Stitches next week??

The Massai Shawl  is a Crystel Seyfarth kit - I can't wait to wear it!!

Thanks for waiting for me to come back.

So sorry to learn of your MIL's death, and then your bout with a viscious virus. Sometimes life comes at us pretty hard. Glad, though, that you are feeling better and getting back into the knitting, and blogging, mode. You were missed.

Oh my gosh, I love that shawl! I, too, will be at Stitches next week -- I am fascinated by the colorwork and construction and would love to see one in person.

A quick question about your and mitt patterns - are they worked flat or in the round? If in the round, do they come with instructions for circular needles (including two circs where needed) along with or instead of dpns? I know dpn patterns can be converted, but it is just so much easier to have it already written for two circs.

If you would like to message me, you can find me on Ravelry as LeeBernstein (all one word).

Thanks so much -- nice blog -- I found it through your Ravelry advertisement.
